iPhone HEIC photos and Live Photos

Quick answer

iPhone photos in HEIC format upload as they are, and we create previews automatically so they display on any device. Live Photos upload as a still photo.

HEIC photos

Most iPhones save photos as HEIC, a smaller format with the same quality. Guests don’t need to change any settings. We keep the original HEIC file and create previews that show on Android phones, laptops and the slideshow.

Opening HEIC files after you download

  • Mac and iPhone open HEIC files natively.
  • Windows 10 and 11 open them in Photos, sometimes after installing the free HEIF extension from the Microsoft Store.
  • Most photo books and print shops accept HEIC. If one doesn’t, convert to JPG with your computer’s photo app.

Live Photos

Live Photos upload as the still photo. If a guest wants to share the moving part, they can save it as a video first and upload that.
