How to create your first event

Updated October 2026 · 3 minute read
Quick answer

Create a free account, give your event a name, date and type, add a cover photo, and you get a private event page with its own link and QR code. It takes about three minutes, and you can change everything later.

Step by step

  1. 1
    Create your account
Sign up with your email or with Google. Creating an account and your first event is free.
  2. 2
    Name your event
Add the event name guests will see, like “Sarah & James” or “Maya’s 40th”, plus the date and event type.
  3. 3
    Add a cover photo
Pick a photo for the top of your event page. A photo of the couple, the guest of honour or the venue works well.
  4. 4
    Choose a style
Pick a style and accent colour, and write a short welcome note for guests.
  5. 5
Get your link and QR code
Your event page is ready straight away. Copy the link or open QR & sharing to print your QR code.

What you can change later

  • The event name, date, cover photo, style and welcome note.
  • Whether guests need a password, and whether photos need your approval (Celebration and Business).
  • When uploads open and close.
  • Your plan. You can upgrade at any time and only pay the difference.

Before the big day

Test your event from your own phone: scan the QR code, add a photo and check it appears. Our checklist for the week before covers everything else.

Common questions

Do I need to pay before I create an event?

No. You can create an event on the Free plan and choose a paid plan whenever you’re ready.

Can I create the event weeks in advance?

Yes. Many hosts set up their event when they send invitations, so the QR code can go on the invitation insert.
