Best size and placement for QR codes
Updated October 2026 · 2 minute read
Quick answer
Print QR codes at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide for table cards and 4 inches (10 cm) or more for signs. Put one on every table, one at the entrance and one near the bar, in good light and at eye level where you can.
Sizes that scan easily
| Where | Minimum QR size | Scanning distance |
|---|---|---|
| Table card | 1.5 in (4 cm) | Arm’s length |
| Welcome sign | 4 in (10 cm) | About 1 m / 3 ft |
| Poster or screen | 8 in (20 cm) | Across a room |
Placement tips
- One card on every table, facing the guests.
- A sign at the entrance, the bar and the photo booth.
- Avoid glossy laminate that reflects light.
- Keep a white border around the code.
- Put the code on the slideshow screen too. The slideshow shows it automatically.
