Connecting to a venue TV or projector
Updated October 2026 · 2 minute read
Quick answer
The simplest setup is a laptop connected to the TV or projector with an HDMI cable. You can also use a smart TV’s web browser, Chromecast or AirPlay. Test it at the venue before the event.
Your options
| Setup | What you need | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Laptop + HDMI | A laptop and an HDMI cable (and adapter if needed) | The most dependable choice |
| Smart TV browser | A TV with a web browser | Type the slideshow code on the TV |
| Chromecast | Chrome on a laptop | Cast the browser tab |
| AirPlay | A Mac or iPhone and an Apple TV or AirPlay TV | Mirror the screen |
Before the event
- Ask the venue which inputs their screen has and if they have an HDMI cable.
- Bring a charger and turn off your laptop’s sleep and screen saver.
- Check the venue Wi-Fi works on the laptop, or use a wired connection.
